Echo Look also comes equipped with a machine learning feature called Style Check, allowing users to take two pictures of two separate outfits and compare the two in order to make the best choice. Combined with advice from fashion specialists, Style Check gives users a percentage bar of what outfit works better in the moment, and what fits better on each individual user.
Of all the things technology has promised, Cher Horowitz's closet(Opens in a new window) from Clueless has long been at the top of my wish list. Amazon is finally making it a reality with the Echo Look, an Alexa-enabled camera that acts as a personal stylist. It works in sync with an app to guide outfit choices, capture looks for sharing, and of course sell you clothing from Amazon. It's certainly unique, and acts like an Amazon Echo speaker when it isn't judging your fashion choices, but like most things in movies, what appears magical onscreen is a little less so in real life.

The idea is that you can use Echo Look to see yourself from all angles, then build a personal lookbook of your outfits, and share those photos with others. Or, using the Style Check service that combines machine learning algorithms with advice from "fashion specialists", you can get style advice. And at anytime you can tap into Alexa as you normally would to get weather updates, control smart home devices, etc.
Once you're done, you'll also want to download the Echo Look app for iOS or Android. You can use it to get a live view of whatever your Echo Look sees, take a short video so you can see yourself from every angle, view style recommendations via the Style Check feature (which Amazon said combines machine learning algorithms with advice from "fashion specialists"), or create a lookbook so you can browse your outfits.
A built-in feature called Style Check combines machine learning algorithms with advice from fashion specialists to give users a "second opinion" on an outfit and Echo Look "helps you discover new brands and styles inspired by your lookbook." This lets you submit two photos and ask which looks best based on fit, colour, styling, and current trends.
"Style Check keeps your look on point using advanced machine learning algorithms and advice from fashion specialists," said Amazon. "Submit two photos for a second opinion on which outfit looks best on you based on fit, colour, styling and current trends."
In April 2017, the Amazon Echo Look was introduced as a camera with Alexa built-in, for US$20 more than the first-generation Echo.[60] The device can provide artificial intelligence outfit recommendations, take photos, and record videos; in addition to the features available on the Echo.[61] It offers Amazon Alexa's key feature plus a camera to take full-length photos and 360-degree videos with built-in AI for fashion advice.[62][63] As a consumer product, it helps catalog users' outfits and rates their looks based on "machine learning algorithms with advice from fashion specialists.[64]
Using a camera and Alexa's artificial intelligence, the Echo Look was intended to give fashion advice to owners. Owners were asked to stand in front of the device wearing their chosen outfit, then ask Alexa to take a photo. Repeat this with a different outfit, and Alexa gives advice on what works and what doesn't. The images were stored on an app, ready to be shared on social media if you so wished, or just to keep a record of your wardrobe.
